It’s a wrap
I feel as if I’ve been in the festive mood for several weeks now. The Penshurst Vintage Christmas Fair at the beginning of last month was a huge success. Thank you to all of you who came along and supported all the great sellers. Following that, I assisted my daughter (www.bethanygracephotographs.com) with her Christmas family photoshoots. We used a combination of seasonal decorations and vintage homewares to create a cosy Christmas scene inside a rustic barn. We had enough space to offer various seating arrangements – faux fur rugs, rocking chairs and a beautiful deep red Chesterfield sofa. Centre stage was a very special prop – a gorgeous mohair teddy bear handmade by my late father in the 1990’s. Everyone loved our curated set and Beth worked her magic behind the camera to capture precious family memories for her clients – many of them using the photos for personalised gifts, Christmas cards or calendars!
At the end of November I took a solo trip to Cornwall to visit my relations and deliver Christmas presents. My brother and his wife live a little off grid and I arrived at the same time as storm Bert which resulted in us all being snowed in for 24 hours! It was lovely to spend some extra impromptu time with them and my ever resourceful sister-in-law Kelly baked us tasty cheese scones for lunch and showed me how to make angels by folding old paperback books! She runs a local bi-weekly dementia club so we also got busy wrapping gifts for all the members. When the snow had cleared enough to drive out of their 1km farm track I carried on my westward journey to catch up with other Cornish friends and relations. Then a few days later, before heading home, Kelly and I went Christmas shopping at a wonderful vintage and craft market in Tavistock. All the fabulous stalls were embellished with shiny treasures, twinkling lights and winter greenery and we both couldn’t resist making a few purchases! All in all it was an inspiring trip away and I arrived home recharged and ready to tackle December.
This month I have been busy with all the usual festive preparations as well as an influx of Etsy orders. I am always so very grateful that people choose to shop with my small business especially at this hectic time of year. All packages were promptly despatched and have arrived in time for the big day so now with all my Vintage Dawn Christmas tasks (from photoshoot displays to parcel posting) completed, I can finally say “it’s a wrap!”
Wishing you a very merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year,
24th December 2024
