New Inspiration

As this is my first blog of 2021 I would like to start by wishing you all a very Happy New Year!

January seems to have flown by – the month for new resolutions and a good sort out! Lockdown has continued and so I have been busy indoors rearranging my sewing room and sorting through my vintage fabric stash! This always gives me inspiration for new designs  and products. I came across some beautiful sailing themed fabric that I purchased when in Cornwall last year and am now  planning a range of seascape inspired cushions in beautiful hues of cobalt blues, sandy yellows and sea glass greens. Watch this space!

I have also added a new section to my Etsy shop – “Vintage Toys”. I have aways loved old toys especially the charm of vintage teddies and plush animals. I used to make artist Teddy Bears in the 1990s under the name “Willow Bears”. I supplied several shops and attended specialist fairs. My stall would often include some “Fare-Deal-Bears” made by late father. He was also a great teddy bear restorer and would repair even the most poorly Ted. I have recently been inspired by him to give some TLC to some old toys I bought a while ago. Some of them will be looking for some new homes in the new “Vintage Toy” section in my Etsy shop which you can find by clicking on the image of Earnest Bear.

As I look out my window I can see clumps of delicate snowdrops that have suddenly appeared in my garden border promising that Spring will be arriving soon. It is my favourite season when everything growing looks fresh and full of new Spring blooms. Until then I will have to get get my floral fix from all my lovely fabrics now neatly piled in my sewing room!
